Requirements to become SPL, ASPL, PL, and APL

Patrol Leader (PL):

  1. Requirements:
    • The Scout has to have been an Assistant Patrol Leader or a Den Chief for at least 4 months.
    • The Scout has to be at least First Class or higher in rank.
  2. How to be Elected:
    • Votes take place within the patrols.

    **Note: Elections are twice a year.**

Senior Patrol Leader (SPL):

  1.  Requirements:
    • Must have attended NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training).
    • Must be 15 years old or older.
    • Must be at least a Star Scout.
    • Must have had a previous position of responsibility.
  2. How to be Elected:
    • Troop elections occur once a year. (Normally in June or September) The troop votes on the SPL during a troop meeting in either June or September.

     

There are no applications needed to be filled out. Just contact the Scoutmaster when the elections come around if you want to become one and tell him that you want to become one of the above positions.

**Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders (ASPL) are chosen by the Senior Patrol Leader after he is elected by the troop. No requirements to become one.**

***Assistant Patrol Leaders (APL) are chosen by the Patrol Leader after he is elected by the Patrol. No requirements to become one. The chosen Assistant Patrol Leader has to agree to become the Assistant Patrol Leader.***
